| I'M SUCH A GEEK!
In trying to contact someone (I only know her name) to make NYE arrangements I had to:
Look on Google maps for possible streets - remembering the street faces the lake.
Lookup on Canada Post for every postal for that street
Punch into Canada 411 every postal code that came up with the Lastname I know |

| SHE DIED WITH A BANG
I am thankful because:
I was in bed and asleep by 10pm
I woke up at 4:30 am to use potty
I heard the furnace go boom at 5am
I heard the CO detector go off at 5:01am
The fault was quickly found
The equipment has been safely disabled
That a contractor can repace the furnace tomorrow
It is not too cold these few nights
That I did not suffocate and/or go through the roof
That I am still here writing this.
Thank You God.

| BAD BAR EXPERIENCE
> Can I get a TUBORG?
>> What? I don't think we have that. (even tho there's a sign for it on the way in.)
> Can I get a RICKARD'S RED then?
>> That's not working.
> How about a MICK'S RED?
>> No, don't have that.
> Can I get a GUINNESS then?
... 5 minutes later...
>> Sorry that keg's frozen.
ended up with a KEITH'S.

| WTF?
It seems like my manager is more concerned and eager about finding me a
girl than to land me a job? How’s that for “career development”?
It’s been a long time coming and I’ve finally decided upon a dSLR
camera. The original plan was to move up to a Minolta after their
prices come down a bit, but then they ended up pulling out of Canada.
And I ended up borrowing, renting and trying out Canons and Nikons,
almost buying the Canon 20D and EF-S 17-85 IS lens. However something
just didn’t “feel right”...maybe it was the cropped lens, my roots
still in 35mm salivating for a full-frame lens, or just not wanting to
give up my stash of Minolta gear.
To make a long story short, after the camera decided to hop on the
train, plane or whatever, leaving my reaches for good... I decided to
go far and wide just to get this camera again. So the story ends up
that I’m buying the KM Maxxum 7D from New York city.
The deciding factor was actually the KM 17-35mm (FF) lens that I bought
locally. Tried it out on my 35mm and practically “fell in love” with it
- enough anyways to work with the Maxxum 7D even though I have never
actually tested (or even held) it before. So that’s now on a UPS
truck/plane on its way to Canada.
Now I just hope that I’ve learned my lesson enough to never have to walk a similar path when I “discover” that special girl. |
